Representatives from Phong Phu Household Textile Company receiving the OEKO-TEX STeP Level 3 certification from Hohenstein.
On the morning of March 5, 2024, Mr. Tran Trong Khoi, the National Director and representative of Hohenstein – an agency specializing in global testing and research of textile product quality, presented the OEKO-TEX STeP Level 3 certification to Phong Phu Household Textile Company. The certification ceremony was attended by experts from Hohenstein and Phong Phu’s leadership.
This is considered the highest level of certification within the OEKO-TEX STeP system, specifically designed to evaluate and recognize textile enterprises with environmentally and socially responsible production processes. To achieve this certification, Phong Phu had to consistently surpass rigorous approval procedures regarding product quality assurance and environmentally safe production models. The STeP certification process consists of six modules:
- Chemical management
- Environmental performance
- Environmental management
- Social responsibility
- Occupational health & safety
- Quality management
Bach Thi Kim Cuong, CEO of Phong Phu Household Textile Company, receives the OEKO-TEX STeP Level 3 certification from Hohenstein.
Bach Thi Kim Cuong, the CEO of Phong Phu Household Textile Company, highlighted the company’s 60-year history in the textile manufacturing industry, emphasizing its continuous efforts to improve production processes and implement international standard training programs for employees. This commitment enables the company to enhance manufacturing capabilities and deliver superior quality products and services to customers. She also acknowledged the deepening integration into the international market, recognizing the need for the company to meet the stringent requirements of customers from many developed countries. Particularly in the era of globalization, where information and the exchange of goods are increasingly convenient, the company must prioritize maintaining its brand reputation to ensure transparency for customers.
Mr. Tran Trong Khoi, National Director of Hohenstein, delivers a speech at the certification award ceremony
In agreement with Ms. Cuong’s perspective, Mr. Khoi affirmed that in a world trending towards a slower pace of living, it is necessary for businesses not to produce too quickly and excessively in order to achieve a balance in environmental resources. This approach also ensures that businesses enhance competitiveness, especially in the domestic market. “Customers come first, so businesses should seize every opportunity to serve the domestic market with the aim of building their brand in their homeland,” shared Mr. Khoi.
With 60 years of textile manufacturing experience, Phong Phu is constantly looking to learn from the experiences of developed nations in order to implement more sustainable and effective business strategies. The corporation must ensure that the production process does not hurt the environment by thoroughly understanding and adhering to the processes from production to the end product, especially in the export market. At the moment, Phong Phu’s manufacturing facilities are constructed with significant financial outlays and furnished with cutting-edge foreign machinery that satisfies worldwide ISO 9001:2015 requirements.
Being the first textile firm in the sector to receive the most prestigious certification, is progressively staking out its place as a leading brand in both local and international markets. Prior to this, Phong Phu was successful in obtaining from Hohenstein the OEKO-TEX Made in Green accreditation, which attests to the fact that the products are free of dangerous chemicals and are produced in facilities that uphold social and environmental responsibility. Customers are also given a sense of confidence by this accreditation regarding the environmental preservation spirit and transparent supply chain and product management.
Achieving STeP Level 3 certification within the OEKO-TEX certification system will provide Phong Phu with opportunities to further improve manufacturing technology and business models to better align with global development trends. “In the near future, we must focus on building manufacturing plants with greener and more sustainable models. This will elevate the position of Phong Phu specifically and the Vietnamese textile industry as a whole on the global textile map,” shared Ms. Cuong.
